The Most Important World

If you answered ‘no’ to that question, you certainly aren’t alone. It’s not Christmas, Thanksgiving or Halloween. There are no big celebratory meals, and you likely won’t be getting any gifts.

Nevertheless, World Backup Day is a very real event and it’s something that we take seriously here at Carbonite. Why? Because in this new tech-everywhere world, where many businesses’ most important asset is data, protecting that data through backup, recovery and business continuity planning is paramount.

This is especially true of small-to-midsize businesses (SMBs), where data is often not backed up. It’s a situation that can lead to disastrous consequences. In fact, 41% of SMBs believe they would go out of business if they lost their data today, and that belief is supported by estimates from the U.S. Small Business Administration. SMB Importance of Backup

Perhaps the most important finding, underscoring SMBs increasing appreciation of the data risks to their businesses, is that 82% of SMBs are now seriously considering business continuity improvements, and 35% plan to deploy business continuity services or solutions within the next 24 months.

Continuity is increasingly front of mind for SMBs because – in a world where data stores are growing exponentially – the cost and business risks associated with downtime are far too great to ignore.

Carbonite is proud to be leading the charge when it comes to helping SMBs create and implement comprehensive business continuity strategies that run the gamut from data protection to data recovery and contingency planning.
